Finding connection amid quarantine

If you are feeling disconnected from friends, family and loved ones amid the social distancing and stay at home laws, I know this can make a stressful situation even more difficult.

During times of stress people typically come together and support each other.  

While you are being asked to physically distance you should not emotionally distance…from yourself or others.  We are social beings and thrive on the love and support we receive and give. 

Shift your focus.  Focus on the greater good you are part of by physically distancing to protect yourself, your loved ones, your city, your country.  When you see your role as contributing to the greater good, this can help you feel more empowered and connected to others.  

If you live alone, use this time to connect even more with yourself by learning more about your own truth…what makes you feel good that you can do, how can you take good care of yourself emotionally and physically.  Learning more about what makes you feel good and regularly doing those things allows you to be a stronger and healthier you.  Stress can lower your immune system but finding ways to nurture yourself and take care of yourself can strengthen your immune system.  

If you live with a partner and/or children, use this time to not only strengthen the connection with yourself (prior paragraph), but take advantage of this opportunity to focus on how you can open your heart even more to your loved ones.  Let go of expectations and find something you can do to express your love to someone you love.  When you can show yourself love and show others your love, you can experience a heightened level of positive emotions.
