Is It Your Fear or Your Intuition? How Can You Tell?

Do you have a hard time differentiating between your fear and your intuition? Allowing your fears to take control may prevent you from moving in the direction you desire and from being in touch with and allowing your intuition to guide you and strengthen your inner self.

Fear is a powerful emotion and can keep you stuck. For example, you are not happy in your career and decide you would be happier in a career that allows you the luxury of working from home and making your own schedule. Every time you think about going back to school or taking some additional training classes to make a new career possible, you feel sick. Your stomach is in knots so you don’t enroll in any classes. You assume this knotted feeling is your intuition…a sign that you should not proceed with a career change. If you recognize the knots in your stomach and the anxiety you feel as just your fear, you can deal with this resistant energy and release it in order to move forward towards your career goals.

Fear can cause you to have anxiety when you don’t recognize it as fear and instead believe it is your intuition that something bad is happening. For example, you don’t hear from the man you have been seeing for one day while he is away on a business trip. You begin to feel anxious. You start to imagine the worst case scenarios…is he cheating? is he being dishonest? is he ignoring you? You then react in anger and negativity when he calls the following day. Instead of realizing your strong emotional reaction is caused by your fear, you mistake it for your intuition that he is doing something to hurt you so you push him and his love away.

Fear is an emotion which keeps you stuck and can even cause you to move in a completely opposite direction from where you would like to be in your life. If you listen to it and treat it as a stop sign, it will prevent you from achieving what you desire. It is sometimes based on worry or anxiety from a past experience. It’s job is to protect you from being hurt, but it will prevent you from experiencing growth.

Intuition is not an emotion. It is an unconscious cognition or inner sensing that is there to guide you in your life. It invites you to take action. It is not based on prior negative experiences but is neutral. When you stay connected to it and trust it to keep you safe, you create an inner security that you can rely on yourself in any situation. This allows you to move beyond your comfort zone and grow.

Your intuition can guide you to take actions that you normally would not take…you are having difficulty with your child not doing well in school and you wake up in the middle of the night and decide to walk downstairs where find your child sneaking out of the house… you start dating a new man and it doesn’t feel quite right and the next day you decide to walk a different way to work and stop at a new cafe where you see him with his wife.

What happens when you are frequently mistaking your fear for your intuition? Check to make sure they are physically separated within your body. Close your eyes, and visualize where your fear resides in your body. Is it in your stomach. What does the fear look like? Can you give it an image or color? Now where in your body do you feel your intuition? If it is also your stomach, you may have both your fear and your intuition entangled together. If your fear and intuition are knotted together in the same location in your stomach, do some visualizations to physically separate your fear from your intuition in your body.

When you differentiate between fear and intuition, you can feel empowered and move towards your desires. Recognizing fear allows you to take steps to deal with it. Once you acknowledge it, go deeper and challenge your fear. Where did this fear come from? What is the evidence supporting it? Challenge it and move beyond it.

Moving beyond your fear not only allows you to grow, but to manifest more love and happiness in your life. Fear is the lowest vibrating emotion. Your vibration affects the experiences you attract into your life. When you are vibrating at at such a low level (fear) it is not possible to manifest love. Love is the highest vibrating emotion and both fear and love cannot exist together. Releasing your fear and replacing it with a higher vibrating emotion will help you to move forward towards your goals and help you to attract more love and happiness in your life.
